Fair
Superintendents
It is the duty of the
superintendents or assistant superintendents to be on the grounds early
in the morning on the first day and each succeeding day of the Fair.
They are to be in readiness to arrange animals and articles entered for
exhibition, so as to exhibit to the best advantage of the spectators as
well as to judges. They shall prevent as much as possible the handling
of the exhibits.It is the duty
of each livestock superintendent and their committee to see that the
proper arrangements for showing and the show arena have been made prior
to the show time. Also, it is the responsibility of the superintendent
and their committee to put away equipment after the show.
Each superintendent of a department
shall have charge of the arrangement of all animals and articles in his
department. They will give such instructions to the judges as will
enable them to decide all questions that may come up for consideration
in accordance with the rules and regulations specified.
All purchasing power for supplies to be
vested in the executive committee of the fair board.
It is the duty of the superintendents
to see that no alterations are made to any barns or facilities.
Youth Divisions
- The Grundy County Fair Youth Classes
are open to all members of 4-H Clubs or FFA Chapters in the county.
- All exhibitors must complete and
submit The Livestock I.D. Form by May 15. This deadline is for
livestock species Breeding Beef, Dairy, Dog, Dairy Goat, Breeding
Sheep, Llama and Horse. (Market Beef, Swine and Market Sheep I.D.
forms are handled at the weigh-in.) The consequence for missing the
Livestock I.D. deadline is that you are not eligible to exhibit
animals not properly identified at the County Fair of the Iowa State
Fair. No exceptions.
- All exhibitors must complete and
submit fair entries by Fair Entry Deadline - July 1. This
deadline is for all livestock, communications, and onsite garden
judging. (All other non-livestock entries are made at the fairgrounds
when exhibits are evaluated.) The July 1st entry deadline is also the
livestock entry deadline for the Iowa State Fair. The consequence
for missing the fair entry deadline: From July 2-8 you can still enter
County Fair with a $10 late entry fee. After July 9, no entries will
be accepted for County Fair. No exceptions. No late entries are
accepted for State Fair.
- All livestock exhibitors must
complete and sign Ground County Livestock Program Commitment to
Excellence form and return to Extension Office by July 1. Failure to
submit this form will make you ineligible to exhibit livestock at the
Grundy County Fair. This form is required for beef, dairy, dog, goat,
horse, llama, pet, poultry, rabbit, sheep and swine.
- Exhibitors must be in the 4th grade
by September 15, 2004 to be eligible to show. A member may exhibit the
summer immediately following graduation from high school but not after
that fair. Exception are Clover Kids (K-3 grades) who may show in the
non-livestock classes only. They will receive participation ribbons
and no premium money.
- All exhibits entered at the fair
must be the work of the 4-H or FFA member and must have been completed
since last year's fair. Due to security, 4-H'ers are discouraged from
bringing as an exhibit or part of an exhibit, items that have special
meaning or value.
- Exhibits must be entered at the time
specified in the fair schedule. All Livestock released Saturday, July
23rd, 8:00-10:00 a.m. Non-Livestock projects will be released Saturday
morning, July 23rd, 9:00 a.m. and must be out by 10:00 a.m. Exhibits
removed early will forfeit any premiums received.
- Exhibits may be made at school a
long as the 4-H goal for the exhibit and project were in mind before
the exhibit was completed.
- Clubs neglecting to have someone
supervising the non-livestock exhibit building during their assigned
time will forfeit premium money for the entire club or chapter.
- In order to be eligible to show at
the Grundy County Fair, a 4-H'er must attend at least four
local club meetings. Excused absences will not count.
- Protests must be filed in written
form and signed by the person with a complaint. Decisions of the Fair
Board and Youth Committee are final.
- All exhibitors and parents are
expected to act in a sportsmanlike manner and show respect for judges
and superintendents. Persons not acting accordingly may be asked to
leave the show.
- All checks issued by the Fair
Society are void if not cashed within 60 days of the date issued.
- The Grundy County Fair and
Agricultural Society, the 4-H and Youth Committee, and the Extension
staff shall not be responsible or liable for any accidents that may
happen during the fair, nor shall they be responsible for any damage,
loss, or stolen property including death loss of livestock.
- In case of illness or conflict that
a 4-H or FFA member is unable to present for conference judging of
non-livestock exhibits, the exhibits may be brought to the fair by
another person on the entry day. Exhibits will be judged as there is
time and written comments will be provided to the exhibitor.
- Copyright logos, designs, or
trademark materials should not be used for 4-H exhibits on public
display at a fair or other setting without written permission. If
written permission has been obtained is should be included in the
written support materials of the exhibit. Exhibits that don't comply
will be disqualified.
- Exhibits which do not comply with
size guidelines, copyright, and safety procedures will be judged at
County Fair but will not be eligible to advance on to State Fair.
